Getting Started
Scholarly is Singapore's #1 Tutor Marketplace App! Think of it like Carousell or PropertyGuru, but for freelance private tutors in Singapore! On Scholarly you can browse tutor profiles, chat with them directly and book a lesson through the app!
No, Scholary is NOT an agency. Traditional agencies typically handle all communication between parent/student and tutor, and do not allow direct communication. On Scholarly however, parents/students are free to contact tutors directly to arrange lessons however they see fit. Additionally, on Scholarly you can leave reviews for tutors, and read reviews left by others.
If you're a student or parent, you can create an account by clicking on the Sign Up button on the top right corner of the website. If you're a tutor or agency, you'll need to download our mobile app to get started!
If you're a student or parent, Scholarly is always 100% free to use and download. If you're a tutor, Scholarly enforces a 25% platform fee for first lessons booked through the app.
For Parents/Students
To find a tutor through Scholarly, you have two options:
1. Post a tuition job: list all your tutor requirements and wait for tutors to apply.
2. Browse tutor profiles: use our comprehensive search feature to find a tutor on your own.
Regardless of which option you choose, you'll be able to connect with tutors directly and chat as much as you need before committing to a lesson.
To be verified on our platform, tutors have to ensure that their name, qualifications and certifications are supported by evidence such as transcripts, proof of employments and any other relevant document.
Scholarly charges a 25% platform fee to tutors who find students through our app. When you book a tutor through Scholarly, you'll be required to pay 25% of the lesson fees upfront through our app, and you can pay the remaining 75% directly to the tutor.
For example, if a tutor charges $50/hour and you book a 1 hour lesson, then you will have to pay $12.50 upfront to secure your booking, then pay the remaining $37.50 to the tutor directly after the lesson.
For Tutors
To sign up as a tutor, you'll need to download our mobile app, then create your account and set up your tutor profile.
To get verified, you'll need to ensure that you can provide supporting evidence for the information on your profile. This may include items like transcripts, certificates, proof of employments, and/or any other relevant documents.
To find students, we recommend you to:
1. Ensure your profile is complete and up to date.
2. Submit a verification request, if you haven't already.
3. Toggle the "Seeking Student" status on your profile so that you rank higher in search results.
4. Turn on job alerts in your settings so that you can receive updates via email when a matching job is posted.
5. Enable push notifications so you can receive a push notification when a matching job is posted.
6. Actively check Tuition Jobs daily and submit strong job applications.
7. Reply promptly when a student/parent reaches out to you.
